Video Insight Support | Enterprise Manager FAQ's

The Enterprise Manager (EM) allows you to manager your multi-server environment from a central location. It allows you to manage all your Video Insight servers, users and cameras form a single application. Using the Enterprise Manager the administrator can add users, change passwords, grant or deny permissions to cameras or deactivate a user. The following are common questions we receive about the Enterprise Manager. If you have any other issues, please contact technical support.

How do I install the Enterprise Manager?

Installing the Enterprise Manager From the Video Insight CD, install the Enterprise Manager.

Double click on the new desktop icon to start the application. You will be prompted to setup a username and password. This restricts access to the EM.

There is only one administrator account per installation of the software. Be sure to restrict access tot the EM login information because this user can change any setting inside of Video Insight.

How do I configure the Enterprise Manager?

After installing the Enterprise Manager, the next step is to setup each database that you will manage. Depending on your specific configuration, you may have multiple video servers sharing a single database or each video server has its own database.

How do I add a database?
  1. Click the add button
  2. Enter the Database Name, IP address, SQL ID and password.
  3. Click Ok
  4. Repeat these steps for each database.
How do I open a database?

After you have setup your databases, you will see the menu to the right. To manage one, click on the database, the Enterprise Manager will connect to the database and allow you to manage the system. To modify, add or delete a database use the buttons on the bottom of this setup menu.

How do I manage users?

After connecting to the database, the left navigation tree will display Users, Groups, Servers and Cameras. By clicking on the "plus sign" the folder will expand showing you a list of contents. By clicking on any item, you can modify the item.

How do I add a new user?

To add a new user, use the tools menu or right mouse click and select "Add user"

How do I copy a user from one database to another?

If your Video Insight servers are using multiple database's and you need to copy a user from one database to another, right mouse click on the user and select "copy user". Select the database you want to copy the user to, from the list on the left side. Highlight the database and click the arrow to move it to the right side column.

How do I manage users with Groups?

One of the primary benefits of creating individual user accounts is to assign access permission on a camera by camera basis. By creating a group, you can assign permissions to the group, which are automatically assigned to each member of the group.

How do I manager servers?

Each Video Server in the Database can be managed from the Enterprise Manager. You can change server settings including IP addresses, server name, or port.

How do I manager cameras?

This centralized view of your cameras makes changing settings easy. By clicking the camera you can modify settings on the individual camera.
